Just a few words to explain me…

At the tail end of 2012 I pulled the plug on a corporate career spanning 50 years in a variety of roles including change management, corporate problem-solving and internal audit.

First and foremost, I would have described myself as a specialist in sorting muddles and helping people and organisations through times of change. However, about 40% of the work I did was with internal audit groups, which sometimes is much the same thing…

The URL of this site dates from 1994 when I formalised my independence with the creation a corporate structure – “Geoff Svenson Services” – and used the tag line “management systems design, implementation and review”. That line did describe the activities fairly well, but the emphasis was always upon change management and systems review.

On the fringes of my work, I have always loved snuffling around abandoned structures, occupation sites and conglomerations of old machinery, regardless of the culture, industry or influences involved. There is no real need to go into why – but when I was much younger both my parents contributed more than they could ever have imagined, and I am extremely thankful for that.

Supporting my ‘real’ work were a Bachelor of Business in Finance and Accounting, with Personnel Management and Industrial Law added to the mix. Later I got involved in a very long-drawn-out project which led to the award of a master’s degree in Historical Archaeology. Not many people see a link between these core qualifications, but the combination has been a major influence upon the flavour of the outcomes presented here.

By 2012 I was just a little weary of the world of business and decided to retire. However, I retained the URL ‘www.geoffsvenson.com’ as vehicle for presenting the bits and pieces lurking here.

Please enjoy…
